Experience
I have tutored Elementary, Junior High and High School students part-time for the last 6 years. Subjects taught include reading comprehension, SAT, PSAT, ACT, study skills, and general academic help including math, reading, social studies and science. My students have improved their scores and grades significantly. I have been requested by several students for additional programs. I enjoy teaching and working one on one with students because of the opportunity to get to know their strengths and weaknesses in order to tailor their lessons specifically to them. I feel that all students have great potential and that often the one on one instruction is the perfect vehicle to make that potential shine. I have taken numerous training courses through my previous tutoring jobs that have allowed me to hone my teaching and tutoring skills. As I have been a student myself for a long time, I have a large arsenal of study-tips and organizational skills that I am able to pass on to my students. My area of passion and expertise is reading instruction and literature. I have studied literacy and reading skills extensively and taken many courses on the subject, including literacy skills for small children through adults. I enjoy teaching a wide range of other subjects as well, however.

Hobbies
I am passionate about reading, literacy and books and write extensively on the subject. I also enjoy nature and spend as much time outdoors as time and weather permits. I am an avid crafter, and trying to teach myself how to sew and knit. I also enjoy music, including the piano, guitar and singing.
